What is the Foundation?

The Melbourne Orthopaedic Group MOG Research Foundation was set up by the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group to encourage a research environment in which state of the art clinical research could flourish in the setting of a busy private practice.

How does it work?

The Foundation has a sitting board of director that includes eminent research personnel from various institutions in Melbourne . The foundation has direct responsibility for running the research fellowship, which over the last 10 years has assisted in the sub-specialty training of many overseas and local orthopaedic specialists. It also receives donations from both corporate and private donors who contribute tax deductible donations to the foundation to allow its continuing function. Research projects from MOG surgeons, fellows and allied staff such as physiotherapists apply for funding of equipment, staffing and other support to complete clinical research projects.

What is its Track Record?

The MOG Research Foundation has funded 23 fellows since the first fellow commenced at Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in 1993. Many fellows have already returned to academic leadership positions in different countries, including Canada , England , India, Belgium, Germany, Ireland and Sri Lanka . Research had been published regularly in leading journals of many orthopaedic sub-specialties.
